Festival Latinidades brings films, debate and show starting Thursday

The eighth edition of the Festival Latinidades has Black Cinema as its theme. The event, held at Cine Brasilia, in the Asa Sul, in the federal capital, is targeted toward Afro Latin American and Caribbean women.

The festival runs until Sunday the 26th. In addition to movies, there will be shows, debates, workshops and other activities.

At 2pm on Thursday (23), the Festival will feature several short films. The Independent filmmaker Everlane Morais will resent the short film Caixa d’água – Qui-Lombo é esse?

Then will have two more tables of debates and, at 6:30pm, the Orquestra Nzinga de Berimbaus will perform. At 7pm, the film Beyond Lights will be shown. It’s the story of an artist who has difficulties in dealing with the consequences of stardom.

Starting 9:30, there will be a show featuring Folakemi Quintet, an English singer of Nigerian descent.

The Latinidades Festival addresses the black question in music, literature, cinema, dance, academic production, education and actions to promote equality. The civil servant Carla Oliveira Silva will pay homageto the event.
