In our ongoing coverage of black Brazilian women participating in the 2012 London Olympics, on Thursday, we featured the story of Evelyn dos Santos. Although she was eliminated from the Olympics, in competing, she posted the best time of her career. This is also true of the Brazilian women’s 4×100 relay team which featured dos Santos.

The team composed of Ana Cláudia Lemos, Franciela Krasucki, Rosângela Santos and Evelyn dos Santos came in fourth in the women’s elimination round and guaranteed a spot in the finals. Although they would place 7th in the relay finals won by the American team, in qualifying in the elimination race, they set a new record for South American competitors with a time of 42s55. Congratulations ladies!
