Alexia Bairon (Alexsandra Assis) is an actress, model and dancer that was on February 15th in Salvador, Bahia. She is the only daughter of Floricéa dos Santos and an unknown father and was raised by her grandfather and her aunt Alda. She began her career in 1985 as a Jazz dancer and then Afro dance with Augusto Omolú, an actor/dancer/choreographer from the TCA and Escola Criativa do Olodum (Creative School of Olodum). In 1995 she joined the Didá Banda Feminina as the first official dancer. In one of her performances she received an invitation to do a modeling course with Rose Rian, who was responsible for her first works. She reached a highlight of her modeling career in 1998 when she was part of the casting of By Productions in which she remained for five years.
Fashion Career: Alexia began modeling in Bahia in 1995 at age 16. In 1999, she debuted in her first spectacular, Dizer Sim Dizer Não in Salvador. In January of 2000, she represented Bahia in the National Black Beauty Contest in São Paulo. Also in 2000, she moved to São Paulo and went straight to HDA Models, an agency specializing in the promotion of black models, and gained national and international exposure. In seven years of occupation, the baiana already had a resume for no black model to speak of any discrimination.
She graced the cover of Simples magazine, was photographed by Duran and beautified by Carrasco. She modeled for major fashion events in Brazil: Barra Fashion and Iguatemi Colectionin Salvador, Bahia; Fashion Rio and SPFW (São Paulo Fashion Week), featuring the brands Cavalera and Poko Pano.
She also made her mark in print campaigns and TV: Café do Ponto, Walitta, Ministério da Educação (Ministry of Education), Amil, Mc Donald’s, Renner and C & A.
Adored by photographers and fashion and fashion professional, she was chosen by Brazilian photographer Luiz Lhacer to do a nude artistic layout featuring black models. This work was done for the whole world to see and was on display at the Eccho Gallery in Chicago.
