Priscilla Marinho, 27, is an actress from Rio de Janeiro

“The black woman in Brazil is worthy and daring, always beautiful and cannot be shaken, because people are waiting for any slip so that they can say: “See, didn’t I tell you?”

Racism in Brazil is far from over and I sometimes wonder if this will ever be possible. While this doesn’t happen, I’m demonstrating my work, taking it very seriously, winning my place for my talent and not my ‘fisic du’role’. I am teaching my daughter to never hang her head low, because that is what the racists want to be able to step on us.”

– Translated from the Portuguese from Raça Brasil magazine, Brazil’s only magazine dedicated to the Afro-Brazilian population.
